Einstein "is The Man", because his education was so broad and well-rounded. He could comment on God, and society, as well as, of course, advanced physical science.
from my research notes:
Education is is the transmission of the values and knowledge of a society - socialization, enculturation.
... a child's mind is that aspect of his being that enables him to adapt to the world, and the purpose of education is to organize the child's powers of conduct [personal, behavioral, directional] so as to fit him to his social and physical environment. - William James, 1890, Principles of Psychology.
Where do we find education? Reading all the books under the sun may never make one educated.... 16+ years of "education" and I still feel completely uneducated, illiterate and so on...
Education is coming to realize that it is impossible to learn all the wonderful things that this universe has to offer in one lifetime...
At least thats what hit me in my final months as an undergrad. And I did feel sad about that...
